There have been heavy teases that hint towards the anime getting a Season 2 on the Maou Gakuin anime's official twitter page. In addition, there will be a large announcement made in regards to Maou Gakuin during the Kadokawa Light Novel Expo 2020!

The answer to your first question is yes, the anime (and the manga) is based on the light novel. As for your second question, Kirei Cake is behind, but not that far behind. They haven't translated Ch 15.4 or Ch 15.5 yet, which are the most recent "chapters" in the raws.
@yeetmaster6981 The manga hasn't caught up to the anime. It's around the end of where episode 5 was. That being said, you should read the manga from the beginning, as it's of a much higher quality than the anime.

I have 2 things to say to that.
1) If there's no point to it, why are you even here?(I don't mean to be hostile or anything, I'm just genuinely curious)
2) The manga is of a much higher quality than the anime, and it's a better adaptation.
Damn, I like the manga much better than the anime. Here's my reasons why;
1) The artstyle is better(The anime's artstyle looked generic af, the LN artstyle that the anime is based off of is really good but the anime itself doesn't even begin to compare)
2) The fight scenes are better(The fights...

How do you know that the manga got a bad reputation for it's artstyle? Do you know for sure, or is that just your opinion? Personally, I enjoy this artstyle a lot. That being said, I also enjoy the LN artstyle. Both seem fine to me.
