Isaac hung on the the time MC said "Next time" and gambled his all on winning MC over in his next life. Nothing more than a high-stakes gamble from a godlike sorcerer who trancends the in-universe common sense.

This is going to backfire tremendously when the (M)MC first experiences doubts about MC due to being manipulated. If you keep your help hidden then you have no real bond to fall back on when third parties tries to sow doubt and paranoia.
