Some personal predictions based off the spoilers

In page three, if you're going to break up the word "rearrange" you should break it up as re-arrange and not rear-range. I know it didn't fit but it completely changes the meaning

I don't get why people are assuming Ordell is 40 years old. From all the clues from the story, he's at most 30, though most likely around 25. He left his home for only FIVE years to go fight in the five year war as a mercenary. He just looks middle aged due to his rough look.

If I remember right, a child being born with a disfiguration is just bad luck in general. Because people fear that any children born from that child would also have said disfiguration. It could be as extreme as a lame limb, missing facial features or as minor as large birth marks.
