They're really trying to make us sympathize for a group of villains who play with oni's lives like it's nothing. They look exactly like humans outside of the blood trait so it's kind of hard to sympathize with the momotarou, even by shounen standards.

Very doubtful that the other Japanese girl had a pure soul if she immediately thought of transferring her miasma to another human by deceiving them but every one of these stories need an incorrigible scummy antagonist right?

I won't lie, church bad is too common a trope and it really hasn't been an interesting plot point for the past decade. Maybe I'm overexposed to the trope but they always act comically evil

@StinkyPoopy123 It's based on martial arts but it's not wuxia/xianxia. The MC isn't some ruthless bipolar character who will kill everyone and their whole sect while raping every girl just because he got disrespected by some young master.
