Does the anime mean the author will finally get off his ass and continue the web novel?

Anyone else feel like the ending was kinda rushed? Was it cancelled or did the mangaka get tired of writing it?

As soon as I saw that cosplayer, I was thinking that better not be a trap or I'm dropping this manga so fast. Imagine my disappointment. Somehow I just knew.

Last page was a call back to page 3. It got a lot sadder when I learned the artist based this on his friend who died suddenly in an automobile accident.
