I use Neko app (a Tachiyomi fork). It works wonders. It also allows you to download as many chapters you want to read offline, I like to do it to avoid loading issues.

Am having the same issues as well. Bad Gateway errors and failing to load some chapters constantly. And no, it has nothing to do with the legacy reader. I don't use it, and I am having the same issues nonetheless.
