this reminds me of ichiban ushiro no daimaou. and thinking of it, this bits on this chapter makes sense of the weirdness that this manga's always been on. it's kinda weird that the story is actually getting into that though.

after quickly going over the chapter again, i am of the opinion that the sequence at the end is just a bit silly. it's mainly that the enemy is left unrestrained, which has little to do with the decision that he should be left alive.
