Page 14 shows just how far Frieren has come. This is easily the most moving chapter. That is, it shows just how far Frieren has come, though I worry people will find it 'boring' because nothing much happens. To explain, Page 14 is showing the perspective Frieren gained thanks to Himmel and that...
@AceTheBase Oh sorry! It's on the Frieren discord. There's a leaks channel that posts and translates them early. You can find the link over on the reddit for Frieren (pinned post)
@monozuki
I think the implication from Frieren about Elves dying out is that Elves generally do not ever get close to others. Frieren is a rare exception. It's hard to know though, as we've only over met one other elf and we will never know if he was carrying a burden of friendships.
This is my favorite chapter.
Here's my analysis that I posed on the Frieren of the Funerals discord:
Himmel's picked up that loving the limited-life of a human is dangerous and sad for a long-lived creature. If it's locked this poor dwarf to a memory for a century, he is just picturing in his...
@Yunyo - Her expressions tell you what she's thinking.
The first time you can tell she's a little conflicted, feeling strange, and you see her thinking deeper on it afterwards.
The second time she is smiling and meeting his gaze directly. Then they dance together.
She's saying those words...
It's interesting to see the lore expanded from the Light Novels. I don't recall this part while reading it.
In some of the later chapters you actually see one of the demons that Mahiru deals with, and it was a great reveal of something never directly stated in the LN source.
@Zero13 - I am saddened to see people offer this: "My 2nd biggest gripe was the boring emotionless expressions and dialogue we had for half the chapters thanks to Frieren" as a statement.
We certainly have views in what we find compelling and interesting. One of the things that makes Frieren...
@JoshuaDMarti - I will say your opinion is correct and the manga has evidence for it. The best example is seeing her reaction to Himmel appearing as her Phantom demon in Chapter 9 - Phantom Corpse. She shows surprise that he is the one chosen instead of her master. That means his impact upon her...
@cannarali - I feel she never realized the depths of his feelings as Himmel was kind and friendly to everyone he encountered along the trip. I get the impression it was never even at the stage of unrequited because he knew not to burden her with his love, knowing that she was not ready to...
I love the beautiful detail that Frieren is surprised to see Himmel as her phantom. It is a subtle touch to remind the audience of her still having not come to terms with what he meant to her. The panel with her smile, and his words to her says everything that needs to be said about Himmel as a...
He posted back in Feb:
Hey all, making a quick note to sort of let anyone who’s interested know, I’m looking to put the SERAPH OF THE END - ICHINOSE GUREN: CATASTROPHE AT 16 translation project ‘up for adoption’, if that makes sense.
Starting uni, there’s no way I have the time to get up to...
