I think the two did the correct actions given the situation though. We don't know the danger level of the rift and some one must be out there to guard in case monsters go out. If they are selfish I think they can just pretend they don't know and walk away.

MC must be one hell of a prodigy monster if he get this strong in both magic and sword by self-taught. Well, maybe because everything is too easy for him that is why his strongest opponent is his imagination
