They said "she traveled at light speed" which was yknow, wrong. She warped there. This made me think they misunderstood what transpired in the story.

You can say "well that's a lot of work for just a single dummy" and you'd make a good point but I did it in case another one appears.
Some people don't seem to quite understand what went on here so I'll just explain the confusing parts in detail.
At the beginning of the story, she was a billion lightyears away from Earth, which means whatever information of Earth she was seeing on her monitor was already a billion years past...
