I absolutely adore Aoi, but I think he may be mixing up maternal love and romantic love a bit.
Shiharu was the only motherly figure in his life, other than his grandmother (with whom he made that distinction).
But poor little dude deserves the world. I can't help but feel sorry for him.

To be fair, she has a point.
Becoming the next heir to the archduke (a position that is second only to the actual king/princes) puts him in a position where he’s at risk for getting hurt, targeted, manipulated, and even killed.
