Yes, this is a very butchered version of the novel. You won't enjoy this version much, as all the soul and finer points of characters and plot were sucked out. Could be used as illustrations to the novel to keep up with the characters

This is cute overall, but MC could at least try to communicate with signs, drawings, intonations, whatever. She's fresh from a world trip even, language barrier shouldn't be a new concept.
