The other climbers just straight up tried to destroy everything as soon as they got to Earth, but this guy was there for years, and didn't destroy it. Why? Because he wanted to kill the guardian first? I mean I guess he's nothing without his artifacts, but damn is he weak compared to the others.

It's probably not even the real thing in the bag. He was probably betting on them fighting so that it takes a long ass time for them to actually open up the bag to realize it was a fake in order to escape with the real ones.
