And the "nemesis" crap has to stop. Try "beautiful lifetime lover and partner", Shamiko, and maybe say that to Momo. That will shake things...
I followed this closely for a little over 200 chapters. One thing I realized is that I would never want to know any of these characters for the rest of my life, with the exception of maybe Kana.

You're exaggerating, I think. It's been strange and patchy sometimes, but there has been a lot of good stuff happening with real narrative logic and things are going strong right now.

Mako is having a rough time. She can't come out and confess, but she can't help trying to manipulate Yoshida into being near her, either.
Yoshida might even figure out, although I doubt it. She's pretty annoyed with Mako.

So Little Momo, alone in the world and missing her sister, has to fight and drive off the perpetrator of an attempted demon genocide that she accidentally helped bring on, and winds up with deep gouges in her side and a well of bottomless guilt.
That's my guess.

I agree with you, but to be fair, she's a whisper away from being totally orphaned, and the last trace of family is the most important to her. That makes the world look pretty shitty and can make you impatient with others who are trying to help.
