@nootnoot001 I've been wondering the same thing, and actually was just going to reject daddy. But I think I realized what's going on in chapter 19.
In the last timeline daddy sent Max in to save his daughter since Max clearly would do whatever he wanted. But Jubelian didn't know Max was there...
Could someone please explain why so many stories have family that is neglectful, but actually care a lot? They don't show it at all and actually actively go out of their way to be hateful, but that's not how they feel?
I see that a lot in these stories and I really don't understand it.
The rating seems pretty low but it looks like it might be a fun and relatively normal adventure. I want to enjoy a chinese story, so I'll try this. So far I haven't been impressed with chinese stories, they're either silly cultivator nonsense or a wild hodgepodge of a thousand tropes and...

One cultures comedy is another cultures physiological horror.
I read @laudys comment before starting the story, so I went in trying to see the subtle messages of the story that showed what the author was trying to say, and the small comments that showed the tropes I was supposed to keep in...
Thanks for your work Allen~
Don't feel like you have a duty to this work and just rest, do what you feel like. Even if you don't return to this I'm sure someone else will.
