From some interviews I reckon that Gosho already has the whole story concerning the black organisation planned out. He never expected Detective Conan so popular and running for more than thousands of chapters. All those cases in beween the main story are mini arcs or in a way standalone fillers...

This manga was completed during summer 2017 with ~178 chapters. I do hope the remaining chapters get translated eventually. The dark dystopian setting of this manga has its unique charm.

Good old poisoning with hydrogen cyanid. It occurs way to often and Aoyama Gosho makes it like common folks can get in their hands as easy as candy. (^～^;)ゞ In real life, dangerous chemicals like these are likely to be monitored and any private person trying to buy or steal something like this...

Obviously, but this is just a "bad" manga as reflected on the rating, which I'm following for entertainment just to see the characters struggle for silly reasons. Something like it's so bad that it's good in its own way.
