@Frozeneye No worry. No one here will or can force you to enjoy anything. Even if I said all that, I still respect speed scans because they're indeed a part of the community; some people simply don't care enough, or don't have time to wait, or want to be up-to-date ASAP.
I would hate to see if...
@Frozeneye You don't have to even do anything. Just by simply discouraging low quality and low effort scans is good enough for a casual reader. Some people can get by it, but the more you let it happen, the more shitty scans you will see. People copy one another, and if group X is doing garbage...
@fdmz Every manga on MD will have their official sites to purchase the manga from linked under the summary, if any. Kaguya has one for a long while now.
@Frozeneye It's all about keeping up the standards. Not everybody can read a machine-translated script nor 0 redraw pages. If you look at the light novel community, you would see how subpar things have been. It's one of the main reason most people never get into it, including myself.
Just...
@retzikun it is really a shame as well those groups decided to leave due to throwing a fit over snipes and whatnots. You know, in a perfect world everyone would work together and scanlate manga with the community in mind instead of anything else, and the readers would show plenty of support to...
@anon763 tbh just no one to work on it. I was the typesetter for that series. Just gotta find a cleaner since I already have some chapters translated from the former translator.
Hi, so I'm just making this post so I can put my opinion on some of the drama out there.
My qualifications are: being a (former) scanlator, being a reader, using Mangadex, and having an opinion.
First off, where do I stand in this drama?
I believe MD has done everything right so far and that...
@rickytheflicky Have you perhaps look into how MD was DDOS-ed? Why did MD disable manga search for guests? Did you ever consider this account was made so that it circumvents the guest restriction?
@Xant That even further support my point against @Ashi. Let’s just say in general scanlation as a hobby costs some amount of $. What I’m seeing from group however is that they make it look like donation is life and death to them. Take a look at LHT’s credit page for an easy example.
My main...
@Ashi that’s the best case scenario. However, most of these groups are doing exactly what you mentioned.
Scanlation costs money, yes, and that’s why it is the same like any hobby. If you can afford it, then go ahead. If not, then you don’t have to do it. There’s nothing and no one forcing you...
@Katsurandom You can get Tachiyomi in your Android (not sure if it works on PC android simulators). From there you can read basically anywhere, even aggregator sites. Tachi is an ad-less app, so reading in it supports NO ONE, just like what those aggregators and these crying groups deserved.
@Malaa I don’t mean uploading, but as a reader with 1200 bookmarks. Being a scanlator doesn’t mean being MD staff, lol.
I really wish my name can be green, but I’m too busy with other things to care about uploading manga here.
I also don’t get what you’re getting at. What contradiction? Groups...
@boont it IS about the money. A lot of us do scanlation as a hobby and to promote manga. We don’t give a shit if people donate or not.
These groups on the other hand, are known for putting delays on chapters and advertising their websites/Patreon/whatnot. We all know what they’re doing it for...
@FunZed Tbh I feel the same. Dude is a hero who defeated the demon king, yet hearing “anti-demon organization” doesn’t trigger anything for him? First time I feel like the author forced him to be dense, instead of misunderstandings like before.
Some scanlator groups are fucking babies I swear.
You know, I manually moved 1200 manga from other aggregator sites to MD because I thought groups deserve all the credits they can. As a scanlator myself, I understand the work being put in and can relate to shit that happen with the drama once...
@dokidoki this series haven’t been picked up in almost 5 month, not everyone is gonna remember.
Reread past chapters and it still doesn’t make sense. What settings? Did the translator mean “set up”? “Settings” is very out of place here.
@Teasday I do mean official translation, not scanlation. My bad.
Perhaps, it does seems a bit redundant now that you spelled it out. I guess I was a bit too hasty and assume my idea also cover that area.
