Once in my life I want to read a teenage romcom where characters feel like actual human beings. Who the fuck does this? Who steals something of clearly sentimental value from someone and then blackmails them with it, to get something that requires the other party to not hate them?
I'd love to...
@HentaiGod it's all about pacing, man. Axed mangas tend to shift into 12th gear all of a sudden, obviously rushing towards an ending while leaving every subplot either unresolved or give it a one-panel slapdash resolution. Obviously, that's pretty jarring and unsatisfying.
Dragging out is...
Good lord why always with the fireworks. If all this buildup leads to the classic "I couldn't hear you" garbage with no actual confession, I'm gonna shit.
Alright, those are some pretty cool character designs, tbh. Scary-ass demons in suits and sunglasses works.
Edit: Dude on the left kinda looks like he's about to serve some fried chicken.
What kind of incestuous bloodline dodecahedron configuration is this headed towards? Also, wow that father is an enormous piece of shit, who plays with their children like that?
It's also still fucking weird how Sachi keeps getting framed as a love interest. Also weird how thirsty she is for...
I don't think she's gonna die, it wouldn't fit the author, I think. Their series are usually pretty drama-free and lighthearted. Plus, I feel like the death flags have been defused ever since she told MC about her past condition, that seemed pretty climactic to that "hidden arc".
@hermitboi but how else would the reader get to vicariously live out their savior fetish?
That being said, with how widespread slavery was and is throughout human history, it's fine as a background element. If only slaves just weren't always cute animal-girls.
Hmm, honestly... I wouldn't mind Sayu winning. Fuyuki never really had much of a lovey-dovey atmosphere going, or rather her PoV chapters never did more than hint at her having some type of feelings, unlike Sayu. And I'm still waiting for a romcom where one of the love interests turns out to...
It's honestly kind of funny how used to glacial/lack of progress we are when it comes to rom-coms that actual progress immediately causes us to fear the axe, because something must be wrong, this isn't what usually happens.
@NightmareWeeb even with "flawed" characters that are supposed to improve throughout their arc, there's usually a point of no return, beyond which no amount of tragic backstory can save them from being hateable.
Starting chapter 2 by framing someone for a crime, and blackmailing them into...
@akole as an avid reader of yuri, I'm honestly weirded out by how prevalent and accepted sexual assault/blackmail/emotional abuse and manipulation in stories is. Often it's downplayed as "oh she's really an M so it's fine" or "they're in love so it's fine" or "they'll end up together anyway so...
