Yeah, I'm with the plot hole camp. She clearly described it as a disposable item with 3 uses. If she hadn't said disposable, I might be on board with retconning "...per person" but it is hard to reconcile "disposable." EDIT: Ahh... author explains.

Let's see, an infantry unit can cover about 30 km per day on foot in open terrain with fair weather. 60 km one way makes it about 4 days round trip. Add in some time for fighting plus the climb will slow progress. I wonder what the deadline was... a week maybe? EDIT: Just looked back a chapter...
