@HDMI1 Unless most of that country is made up of swamps and wetlands that rice can literally grow like weeds (which itself raises another issue of finding other non-waterlogged areas to raise livestock and grow other crops), it’s not really feasible for rice to be so common it’s considered...
There’s no way in this world, or any other world for that matter, rice would be used as livestock feed. It’s too expensive and takes way too much resources for it to even be considered livestock feed. People used to bulk out the rice with sweet potatoes and chestnuts, because it was so expensive.
@panda34 I think there’s a possibility that Melon’s mom actually did start to believe she ate him. She didn’t quite strike me as someone who was... sane.
@Eunieberry I think it’s less "why aren’t I the special one" and more "what did I go through all this suffering for?". She had to live in seclusion while a disease in her bloodline kills her family young, painfully, and slowly. Her family goes through great lengths to "protect the...
@Vmpslushie It’s pretty bad. That sort of "testing" for loyalty in relationships (romantic or platonic) is textbook emotional abuse in toxic relationships. So, seeing it romanticized without the abuser getting any kind of comeuppance is, to put it lightly, pretty yikes.
For anyone who tries the "it’s normal to get married young back then" argument, it really wasn’t. Those kinds of marriages were looked down upon even back then. Nobles could get engaged young, yes, but nothing was ever consummated until they were 18 or something.

@Belovedpink I was almost inclined to agree with you, but then I remembered that death by overwork is a common enough thing in Japan for it to have its own word かろし (karoshi)
I know it’s Korean and not Japanese, but you get my point
@practicallyuseful That’s a pretty normal breakfast in Japan, miso soup and rice often served with fish as the main dish. I usually have just miso or egg drop soup for breakfast since my stomach would rebel at me for trying to shove any kind of solid food into it before it’s properly woken up.
Ah yeah, remember not really believing in Santa as a kid, but going along with the whole charade anyways because, hey, that’s a whole "extra person" who’s giving me presents, who am I to argue.
I didn’t even notice it was product placement since I have never seen the brand before and just thought that it was instructions for how to wash your face...
@Tensaitkuroneko dress casually, but wear it confidently. That seems to be the best middle ground, and the biggest part of a good appearance is just having good posture.
