This is officially too grimdark to put up with. Really don't get why so many Japanese writers think this sort of thing makes for compelling storytelling, though I suppose in fairness it cleary has an audience in angsty teens.
I can’t tell if that went better or worse than expected. On one hand it seems like either her parents tried to kill her, or she accidentally killed them; but on the other she wasn’t attacked by the villagers and the elder even took her in.
The motivations of these two make no sense. And being passive is one thing, but being so passive that you won’t correct someone when they think you are a totally different person is a bit much.
