I really hate to ask this since I just binged all the translated chapters and now really love the story but I heard a rather nasty ending spoiler, so could someone who has read the novel through to the end either confirm or deny this:

Somehow, instead of freeing him, I really want that youth to become her guard. Siena needs more protection from that shitty family and I think he'll do nicely. He doesn't play nice which is just what she needs to keep her safe.
