I love the similarities of Sein and Heiter. We didn't see much of the hero party in their previous era but based on the elder Heiter, he was probably like an older brother to Frieren. And now we have Sein who is acting as one for the entire party.

Damn what a roller coaster. I went from feels from Akio and her mom, to laughing at how the twins described Fukami, to feeling a bit of dread at this new arc setup.

or I might be misremembering if that girl actually liked Izumi but still, same deal. New character used for character development of the main cast.
@CBFlap Sometimes you need to introduce a new character to develop existing characters, even if they end up getting sidelined later down the line. Remember that one girl that liked Shikimori and how Shikimori developed after her introduction? This dude might just be a foil to Izumi as we see...
