@B3ll3r0ph0nt3s It's not just the US and UK- everyone BUT France and Spain, AFAIK no longer uses the French Long Scale system, or at least the rest know the short scale system on average better than the Long Scale and use it internationally.

@Tersione Except Flamme was going on about how it was an ignoble and cowardly thing to do from the start, and Frieren only noticed it because of her genius combined with being an Elf and thus naturally close to mana, and even she acknowledge it as cowardly back then too.
@Tersione Most likely the view of "magic is just another technique" is also anathema to mages in their world. "It's altering the basic building blocks of the world, and should be considered sacrosanct and with the gravitas it deserves! Magic is holy!" or some such mentality.
