@Tanazanite Two suggestions:
The way the current translation is worded makes it seem like he's neither her boyfriend nor her osananajimi/childhood friend.
Even if I'm not her boyfriend,/ even if I'm just a childhood friend. (parallel structure and repetition to get his desperation across) or...
Few notes:
Page 7 - the line spacing for That's basically it. is too small.
Page 17 - Well... It's okay as long as the people wearing it are cute. is missing a white border.
Page 28 - The spacing in the... thought box (is that what you call it?) is small too.
Thanks for picking this up! And...
@Anime_is_average Not sure where the translation for the first page came from. "Sister is breakfast ready?" and "I'd like toast" seem unnecessarily improvised.
Also the second page is mistranslated. Some lines are missing, like:
And the line about her being a man is actually inside a thought...
I haven't been scanning in the past year. I'm thinking of scanning a new chapter next weekend, but it's hard to get into the groove. But if I do, yall'll prob see it then.
There actually are more new chapters. I've taken a hiatus on on scanlating cause I need to improve my Japanese (as attested by the comments below), and I think I was burning myself out a bit. Plus, I don't actually know where to get raws for this, so the quality of the chapters itself is iffy...
thanks for kicking this off @Ynscription (and the rest of kuuki ofc).
as a bit of feedback to the typesetter (Ynscription?) - the line spacing for the regular speech bubbles is inconsistent, and at its smallest, consecutive lines barely touch each other. doesn't really impact readability, but...
@DrWhoCares You know it. 😀
(Well, technically they're the ones provided directly from Matogrosso, but, well, low quality is still low quality.)
As a totally solo scanlator, I know next to nothing about actual raw procurement.
@DrWhoCares I wasn't sure what would be equally cutesy in English. Normally it'd be "Master" or "Sir", but I wasn't sure how to translate -sama > -tama. Mostly cause I don't have a cute bone in my body. So I simply hoped that the reader'd understand that the honorific being used was...
Damn, I was typesetting the second page... and then I saw it picked up already. My loss.
Oh well - it's picked up now, that's all that really matters. Thanks for the scan, y'all.
edit: While I'm here, I may as well mention some QA remarks:
pg. 6 - I'm not sure where "Atsuyuki" is coming from...
@pip25 probably not that hard. I imagine someone who was actually proficient with Japanese would look at this sentence and go "lol that's pretty easy to understand". Learning a second language is vv hard.
@Chizan Dysfunctional families aside, the discussion about ignoring the abandoned is...
@pip25 I had trouble with that line (I have trouble with all lines, too, but...). The actual text is
which I've changed to
What I got out of it was Akutsu's disdain for the rural flavor of social cohesion and false sense of community, keeping up appearances (which is a continuing theme of...
Wanted to chime in with my thoughts on this chapter - I personally felt this was the best chapter of the anthology. The theme of abandonment, being rich in belongings but poor in spirit, and taking love, parental, familial love especially, for granted.
As someone who's bad with people, bad...
@GruntZone360, @TheFiller
So, with regards to whether or not this is a different person, the sparse dialogue makes this unclear. Aside from flipping between the pages and doing a spot-the-difference, as @pip25 pointed out, reading over the last box panel,
on page 6 which reads
which I...
@jackslate Don't think so (aside from Shiota+Amai, obviously). I haven't done the sleuthing to find out though. I've added MangaUpdates links for each book's respective author to the description, so you can see if there are any similar works by the authors in the anthology that match these ones...
@ahegaoman - yeah, if you look at their mangaupdates link, it looks like they have Do Chokkyuu Kareshi x Kanojo. Not scanlated though.
edit: I've also added the MangaUpdates link for each author on the description.
@Vaughnboyz3 Ichikawa Natsuwo - it looks like she mostly writes BL, but there's Minus Ondo no Serenade that I wouldn't mind picking up after finishing this (no promises).
@That-Guy It's the hair. And something other than that I'm sure. Both of them are a little mischievous too.
@jackslate It's...
