I love Sugimoto in this chapter. His open mindedness being used against him as he just accepts their butchering of Ainu culture, and then the immediate 180 when they claim Asirpa was actually acting like a normal girl.

@Fairin How do you think he got his name? They mentioned previously that in Ainu culture, children are given their "real" names when they get older to reflect their personalities/actions up to that point, so clearly this kid has always been like this.

A genuinely heartfelt moment where the the two old men are drawn how they were when they were young, immediately followed by Shiraishi letting one rip. This author is such a troll. Never change.

@sleepy-goose He's always been this soft. Brutal Sugimoto is still there too though. He just has more to him than just one or the other.

@DragonWZRD At least Edogai, unlike his inspiration, wasn't a murderer. He was a sick fuck and a graverobber, but as far as we know he never actually killed anyone. It makes it a little easier to feel bad for him.

Even rereading it, this chapter is equal parts hilarious and horrifying. Is there a word for that?

@manganights Actually, they did sort of explain it. When Sugimoto accused him of just deluding himself, they zoomed in on Ienaga's face and it looked there was some makup crumbling off, revealing wrinkles underneath, implying that Sugimoto was right. (Chapter 53, Pages 8/9)

@manganights About the doctor eating people to become a young woman? My interpretation is that it's all in his head, and he's just using makeup etc to have the effect. If you're talking about the hotel full of traps and secret passages though, that's based on a real hotel built by an actual...

@gronkle Well, it's not like they were showing the tank in the story itself. I think that's just meant to be an artistic liberty taken, showing technology from WW1 while they're referencing it, even if that is still in the future from when this story is set.

That was... odd. I guess the author just wanted to throw as many twists at the reader as possible.

I did not expect a sequel. That was excellent. They are all hilariously terrible people.

This was a pretty fun story. Whoever wrote the character summary at the beginning can go to hell though. They spoiled the main twist, that both were reincarnated, before the story even started. That would be fine if this was chapter 1 of a series or if that was revealed in the first couple...

Wait, that's it? I was expecting a few more pages detailing exactly what she'd set up with the neighboring countries as her revenge. Kind of disappointing. It was good apart from that, though.
