Up until now I sort of felt like he's a happy-go-lucky sleazeball, but this chapter really painted him in a completely different light. I finally understand where he's coming from, if only a bit.
Gotta say the story arc that seems to be fast approaching could have been quite easily avoided by doing this: the MC and Abeno talk to the yakuza to try and get them to give up, and once they spit in the face of the two's gracious offer, the practically omnipotent MC just simply "disappears"...
I just love how this goes from lethal fights with blades and rifles to drunken off-his-ass Kadokura getting carried to safety and tucked in by a crumbling building in a single chapter. The emotional whiplash is masterful.
If somebody lacks the sport-specific strength they need, the worst thing you can do is make them do everything else but the exact activity they are supposed to be training for. And if somebody can't perform a technique well, making them repeat it way past their own limit is absolutely pointless...
