The 'Then perhaps you will come to regret it later...' line just exudes death flag/tragedy foreshadowing, but luckily I don't see that as a tag. Those themes always become a thing when it's the 'immortal life' sort of trope, but I'm happy how well the series is going, good read.

No character development can also be evidence of character development, it stayed dark, nihilistic but some shreds of hope but still stubborn and absurd. The case of 'the end is the beginning repeating' sort of shtick, because in the end did you actually expect Shuu to reintegrate into society...
