As has been pointed out she's being hired for money; ethical considerations don't really come into it. But you can easily imagine a background, especially in Japan, where a girl got tricked by those guys and committed suicide, so her family hired them for revenge ...

Meh. I don't think this going for redemption arcs is any sort of good idea. It'll just end up turning towards the cliches it tried to deconstruct in the first place.
The shrine definitely seems key to the overall plot. I tend to agree that the kami want Hana - maybe just as a shrine maiden though. Perhaps her ancestors build that shrine or whatever.
I know it's comedy and all that, but I find the "hero" with her usual cheats kinda annoying and would much prefer maou to kick her ass...
