lol the art in this is better, or at least cleaner, than the main manga tbh. Though Iruma's rough style is part of its charm. Writing is a lot more generic but Iruma has a fun setting so it should be decent.

Gotta agree normally I like stuff that makes the isekai hero kind of suck but this just isn't very interesting. The 'bottomless expendable party member' concept is also ground that was thoroughly trod by Nodwick for something like 15 years, in the context of the thankless sacrifices early...

IMO one of the healthiest romances in shounen manga. That focus on their desire to support each other in their differing goals and see each other flourish isn't something you get a whole lot when romance in shounen tends toward shallow wish fulfillment stuff.

@kwendy I mean this whole setting feels very Disgaea to me. Probably the reason I like it so much even though I'm usually pretty picky about art and writing quality.

I read a lot of historical and pseudohistorical with period settings manga but this one really stands out as apart even from others of its genre. The art feels like a hybrid with European comic styles; the writing really is worthy of being compared to Catch-22 and looks at the absurdities of war...
