I think the painting may have come to life because it had the visage of a demon, buer, which allowed it to manifest. I don't think it's because of creepy because she's painted him before and I don't think that one came to life (or at least I don't remember if it did.)

Y'know this chapter (specifically the bit on the famine) made me realize something that I had been feeling for a bit. Eric's kinda self righteous and pompous. I think it mostly comes from how Eric is often used as a mouth piece to blatantly state the manga's themes.
