I don't really understand why there's an agreement when you're 55 chapters behind. Instead of translating stuff that's already been translated, why not just work on a new project.

I think credit is only considered stolen when they've stolen the translations. If a scanlation group goes on hiatus for 3 months and hasn't released a chapter in over 6 months, I think it's fair game to take over the project.
