This wasn't an axe so much as a mercy killing.
Kishimoto should in no way have worked with some literal random newcomer like Okubo for a new series and Shonen Jump should never have sanctioned it.

The author INTENTIONALLY ran this series into the ground because he could not handle actual constructive criticism on the story and I will never forgive him for that.
Project Time can choke on it. Their translator Cyborg is lazy as hell and they refused to use anyone else, instead letting this manga lapse.
Give them the finger and keep going.
