@Serenata "Dried sushi" means the sushi served at the funeral hall in that scene. Japanese funeral homes serve some food. Sushi is almost always there, but those sushi are not so fresh. That's why Makio and Asa went to a sushi restaurant for better sushi on that day.

Considering the environment setting and the tone, it's probably influenced by Kyoko Okazaki's River's Edge. The series itself might be affected by it.
