@jsh020 To be fair, the thing she does with changing honorifics depending on whether you can beat her or not is toxic. She may be a nice person in other ways, but it's understandable that people dislike that aspect of her personality. Even Tanaka dislikes that about her.

@Savarizki I used to think that as well, then I met the Chihuahua of a friend. It was the calmest, cutest, friendliest dog I think I've ever seen. Turns out when they're not high-strung and yapping constantly, they're really sweet dogs. The high-strung yappy ones are annoying as hell.

@sirflimflam I meant she's embarrassed to admit how much she loves her dad to others, like the guy she got to help her pick out the present. That's why she was pretending it was a hassle. I think you're dead on for her reaction to her dad, just miscommunication and teenage emotions.

@Eviltwin I remember several times growing up that I was only out of school one day with a cold, and I spent most of those days sleeping because I felt so bad. Kids recover faster than adults in general, so it's not unusual.
