What's the meaning of "now that cuts deep"? Where/whose feelings does it cut deep? Which statement "cuts deep"? Either super ambiguous or I'm missing some connection there.

This character is so poorly written. I'm surprised she doesn't have a curly mustache that she twirls while scheming in her evil lair. Comical at best. Still gonna read, but the author could have done much better.
