People paint him as a mindless beast who thrives in violence and debauchery. Yet, we see him do something like this. It's a simple move but it shows a hint of his intelligence. It's actually quite scary considering the context.

SIGHHHH Why? Why is there a childhood friend? By all that is mighty, please no love triangles. I was looking forward to this and it was a good start too. What irritates me about shoujo is the effing love triangles. Egads.
The novel goes more in depth about the underlying emotions to all the events happening. Not sure if the manga is gonna succeed in bringing out their reasons fully in a way that would show why they chose the path they went on.
The courage of this brat to say to the King is, in essence, him saying "surely with your great wisdom as Emperor, you always knew your daughter was great, right?" The passive agressive sarcasm has me shookt.
And in my mind I hear, "Smooth criminal. *Dadadadada dun dun dada dun dun..."
That Machida....not even trying and just being straightforwardly himself. It's quite refreshing.
