On the one hand I’m happy for Shyu Oumei to be back, one of the manga’s best characters, but on the other hand I’m not sure how this story has time to cram another game in.
"Only a monster like the revived Abidani would pull the trigger against the president's head".
No, anyone following the match's rules would do so. Don't enter a death match gamble if you aren't willing to risk your death. Don't bitch when people hold you to the rules.
Only fascists idolize Lincoln. He "brought liberty and unity" at gunpoint. When you have to subjugate half or more of your population with military force, that is nothing but fascism.
Pretty disappointing that they did not even try to torture Gokijima for the answer. It costs them nothing to do that, and I'm pretty sure Shishidou did not mention that Gokijima has to be kept alive anywhere in the rules.
Speaking of premature explanations... “Face Man” one ups Shishidou from last chapter...
Also, Tomu, Mr. “I don’t gamble with others’ lives” passes on the safe win out of pride, continuing to put Tsukiyono’s life on the line for at least two more spins completely needlessly.
Also, I’ve got to say, the characters in this manga spill the beans on their plans early every damn time. Whether it’s opponents or third parties (like Shishidou here), the fact that the potential challenge of gambles is ruined again and again by too much talking is disappointing.
The Shirasagis balk at gambling with someone else’s life, and yet the father had no problem, somehow, having his double imprisoned (and likely tortured) so he could go on gambling and chasing his “master plan”. Meanwhile the son has used his allies repeatedly in dangerous scenarios to advance...
I’ll say it again, we need some justice for Gokijima. Tomu consistently gets value out of him but never gives him a fair slice of the reward. Of course you could say everyone else gets it worse because they’re expected to risk their lives for free.
Tomu is such an insufferable hypocrite. He cries, "You cheat but won't let others cheat too," when that is EXACTLY what he has done in multiple other matches. And frankly, when compared to some of the cons that Tomu has pulled in this manga, being able to read the cards because you memorized...
I feel bad for Tengu. As if all the shit from the past was not bad enough, now his last memento from the one bright spot in his life has been callously taken away to be a bartering chip for Tomu.
Also, gotta day, this manga is just getting more and more ridiculous. If I was not so stubborn I...
Tomu is such a hypocrite. He bitches about Gokijima and others being self interested but he’s just as self interested as the rest. He continuously exploits people around him to further his own agenda, and does so much more deceptively than people like Gokijima. Gokijima strikes a hard bargain...
