wow why is Shigeharu (the Dad) so unlucky?
As a kid, he was almost the ace pitcher but then got injured by a deadball and couldn't even participate in the tournament. He grew up to be a pro baseball player, was doing well with his career and a happy family, but then his wife passed away...
you bullied a 'friend' for 2 years and finally apologised by saying you didn't know he felt bullied "BECAUSE [HE] NEVER RETALIATED" ??? Victim blaming right there, trying to absolve himself of the blame by saying it was just a game. Glad he realised it was wrong and how much pain he had...
I understand the time skip is necessary, but still would have been nice to see more on how they coped after the death. This seems brushed over too quickly.
Even though I knew his death was coming, it still pains me to see Gorou cries. The storytelling here is just so powerful: the pace, dialogue, the panels... caused a second wave of tears.
"My mother wore cheap clothes...." hits home hard.
And it's always painful to be the ones left waiting. I'm glad the extra chapters show the impact on the other characters as well.
