from what I can see so far i think that the old guy created this world to get back the emotions that humans have lost due to the AI basically becoming a version of skynet that is not out to destroy humanity through weapons but through taking away their emotions. honestly pretty confused right here.

i think that the quest is to feed his teammates. since the quest says that if they enjoy the meal then it will be beneficial or if they don't it will lead to a disadvantage. or it could be him feeding important people that can help them later on in the quest.

@Fari he said that his artifact that he was using came from that shadow world but he never said that he went there. he might have gone to a different shadow world due to him being in a different party or something like that.
