The translation says the same as the original but the joke is lost since "allure" is a much more obscure concept than "being popular". It's a shame, but I do think this was the best that could be done.

Even inside the nonsense logic of the manga so far what Bako did doesn't make sense. The guy gets introduced, does something illogical and immediately dies. It's like the artist is planning the story page by page. He drew him in, then said "ah shoot I don't really need him do I?" and killed him...
