I've come to mostly dislike yuri endings that hinge entirely on subtext, feels really cheap and half-hearted. But as a character-study I believe this story still works well regardless of any romance being involved, so it was a nice, unexpectedly short read.

Waaay too fast for a story that was previously going waaay too slow. Sad since the characters clearly had more going on, but at least everything ended well.

I agree that this is a much better and more interesting version of the originally dull Pheonixman fight, but I can understand how some people will get burned-out if these overhauls become constant. Authors should write around it instead of just rewriting their previous regrets.

A pretty interesting Dangenrompa-esque setting — although the idea of suicide incited by comradery never really made much sense to me. How old/ongoing is this novel and it’s movie?

Aside from the whole incest thing -- drama based around being adopted is so overwhelmingly old-fashioned that it can't even be taken seriously. It's even more ridiculous since the guy is the only one who thinks that way as it was already established the parents care for him.

This almost did feel like an ending — but I do want to see them both open up with each other and Yoriko get over her many hang-ups regarding her life.

Yeah... I’m not too sure what happened here but it did have potential — the writing in particular was pretty sharp as far as 4-komas go. Sadly I don’t think there was enough of an ensemble cast to keep the story going (and they kept flip-flopping when it came to characters tackling their issues)
