For the translator's question - even if in all likelihood the new character is a 'he', if you're unsure you should really just go with 'they'. Like the commenter below me says, we've got gender neutral pronouns, so why not use them.

this is such a wholesome manga and this update was really sweet, i like how it seriously navigates real issues a lot of modern young folks face (especially those who feel alienated by "typical" romances and don't want to compromise who they are/their interests and independence)

The last few chapters actually made me really relate and like Shinbashi! He's just trying to better himself, even if its in an awkward teenboy way, and he wants to help others too. How he looks out for Tabata is cute, despite his original motivations. Good for him!

This is a particularly interesting villainess isekai due to how the previous life is still so integral/relevant to the plot/character arc here. Usually it gets dismissed as a fluffy set-up nigh self-insert, but this? Hits different, you very much understand who the MC was and how her life...

Dang! This is a really interesting take on the shoujo reincarnation fantasy genre, but it is such a great twist - to have the MC take the role of the stereotypical childhood love interest trope! Love it! Hopefully, the promising start will follow through.
