@2hot4you Except Rei hasn't shown any motivation. He is brain washed, it was even clearly stated in this chapter. He just mindlessly does whatever Rino asks if him.

@AnimationDude But he doesn't really have a goal, he mindlessly follows whatever she says. He hasn't shown a single thought of his since the start. I can't speak for how he was before they met because that hasn't been explored. But as for right now he hasn't shown a single opinion or thought...

@AnimationDude I don't think stoic is the right word to describe Rei. Gensai is stoic. Rei is just mindless. Everything you describe as character just revolves completely around him being mindlessly in love with Rina and following whatever she says. He has not shown a single personal thought or...

There is no love. He doesn't even know her, from everything we have seen it is more like some kind of mind control. It would be easier to sompathize with Rei's "fighting for love" if their entire relationship, as shown in the manga, wasn't just him literally burrying his face in her chest and...

    Shigahime - Vol. 2 Ch. 10 - Embrace

@derpdederp why would they launch a memory with "serveral days later"?

@Hoffe absolutely it is, but the point isn't to just win the third round. The point is to take it all, and to do that you either need to take down the Fang or the guy who beat him. Okubo was toyed with in the first round.

Again with the constant cries of plot armor. The new Ohma will crush Cosmo without going all out. No plot armor needed. And putting Okubo in is just plain stupid, he already showed that he can't stand a chance against the Fang, why would doing the same exact thing again be a good strategy?

@Nimroth People never dying despite everything is pretty much a shounen staple, just deeply ingrained in the genre. People seem to die easily enough for story reasons, namely Niko and Kiryu's master. I also doubt Ohma will really die in the end, that has been pushed too much and too early for it...

@Kaelpie but supposedly Kiryu then surpassed and defeated his master. His master also didn't seem like the killing type so this whole passage seems a bit strange to me.

@Demomanowar how is chosing to stop handicapping yourself a "dirty trick"? A failure, sure but no trick. Wouldn't that also make Gaolang stopping to use only boxing a dirty trick? I also believe we will see a much different Ohma when he wakes up relying much more on techniques and unique...

@Ximipe all the cries about "plot armor" are just salt from someone's favorite losing.

@Remixman87 You know, there was that one time an MMA champion tried to out box Mayweather. On a side note, what's with everyone calling "plot armor" all the time. Is it really such a stretch that the guy hyped up to be the strongest fighter really is just that? We have barely scratched the...

In my opinion Rei is just boring. He doesn't have any character at all really. And I don't get all the comments calling out Saw Paing, it has actually been stated multiple times that he is "surprisingly considerate" and he has never acted out physically despite mostly doing so verbally.

Dorei Yuugi - Vol. 4 Ch. 20 - The Fight in Front of the Gate

Wouldn't necessarily be a bad to play in order for him to lure away the opponent guarding the enemy gate and try to pass through it for the win.

@ComaCulture I'm getting more Mimura vibes from that picture to be honest.
