@bakajin yeah might have been my mistake - in latter chapters, he's called a marquis too was pretty sure he was described as Duke (and would make sense title-wise because of his connection to the Tristovy royal family)

in the previous version, Randolph was a duke. I thought this chapter was instead about marquis Mallory, the finance minister.
