Legacy reader is officially retired from today.

@DrNo We didn't intentionally kill it off, updates broke it and we already told everyone it was on borrowed time many times before and would not receive any updates. Unrelated fun fact: 97.2% of accounts on MD were created after the legacy reader was replaced.

@Nick86 Those sound like issues local to you. Never seen any of that. The old reader is gone. Dead. Kaput. We've said ever since the new reader came out that once it broke it would be gone. Today's that day. Our - teas - limited free time is better spent improving the default reader and not...

Legacy reader is officially retired from today.

It's okay, we'll use our totally unlimited funds to rent servers capable of handling the massive growth on site for years to come so we never have to upgrade again 😆 What's truly hilarious is people who have no idea talking like they do. The site is ran on a relatively shoestring budget for the...

No. I didn't say it's database related. I said the freeing up of resources the changes made will allow us to make improvements.

Legacy reader is officially retired from today.

The database already has literally billions of rows of data for tracking every reader's chapter progress on top of other things. We don't want to add superfluous stuff to it that has no need to be there. Especially when the database servers are on their knees already. Deleting cookies is your...

Legacy reader is officially retired from today.

You can fix the issue by not wiping the cookie... As Brave said it was done to allow per device settings so you can, like I do, have different settings on PC, Surface and mobile. The cookie does nothing to harm you and is literally just your settings. Adding more things to the db is a terrible...

Legacy reader is officially retired from today.

@RonBWL The "new" reader has been around for years at this point. Has served way more images than legacy reader ever has. It's not exactly untested. Edit: It also had volunteers help test it before it went live years ago, too. And of course it has had constant updates, fixes and improvements...

    @BzzBzz Yeah, it's a total non-issue. @Irian IKR

@fullerhorn 8 pages of a few people. Considering the user base that is miniscule, yeah. It's miniscule even compared to the 0.1% of users who even had it enabled.

@fullerhorn New reader works great. If tea wants to improve it further, it will be even better. Legacy getting nuked has been a well-known thing for a long time. It just so happens the new update broke it today. Be grateful you had it for as long as you did without it breaking sooner. We've...

@lingling456 I get same speed and performance on mobile, WiFi or 4G, as I do on PC. Already posted a screen recording on Discord. Works flawlessly for me.

Legacy reader is officially retired from today.

@fullerhorn Page bar only covers image if you aren't at the bottom of the page, so it's no different from legacy where you had to scroll all the way to top or bottom to change pages. Not to mention it's much easier to actually select a specific page from the bar on default than on legacies...

Legacy reader is officially retired from today.

@fullerhorn You don't even need the side panel on default reader, you can do everything via shortcuts should you want to - and better than the legacy reader you don't have to scroll up to top to access the buttons, they are available at any time or place on a page. Much more convenient design...

Legacy reader is officially retired from today.

@MrFakOff The gap is present on manga to make page breaks clear, since manga aren't actually designed to be read vertically. In actual long strip content the page break is not present, because they are designed to be read that way.

Legacy reader is officially retired from today.

@Greyvenn Main two causes for slow images currently are new chapters in SEA region due to poor peering on DDG. Other than that if you get a slow md@h client, which is rare as the slower ones lose traffic if they aren't performing well and we have way more bandwidth available than is in use -...

Legacy reader is officially retired from today.

Due to changes we were forced to make the legacy reader is no longer working from today. It will NOT be receiving any updates to make it work from this point. It is officially dead. All accounts have been switched over the default reader. The old toggle is still present at the moment, but using...
