Yeah, the manga seems to have a bit of theme regarding shady guys not being as shady as they first appear. Still, his ultimate goal ... probably related to the shrine? is not yet clear. Maybe he's trying to get out of a deal he's made as a kid?

Yeah, all the worst tropes for this arc. Even if I didn't care about the specifics it'd just be a trite slog to get through; seen it done too often, always develops in the same way - it's not interesting.

There's actually a bunch of vamp yuri. Neighbor's a Vampire thing, Seifuku Vampires (axed, but it got an end), that apocalypse vamp thing ... plus some one-shots. I mean, sure, it's not an overabundance, but given the "size" of yuri in general it's a popular enough theme as far as these things go.
