what's up with this depiction of the miners? Even up to Industrialization, miners would crawl through miles of tunnels to get to work, work all day, then crawl their way back home, 6-7 days a week. They'd love a 8AM to 5PM work schedule.

Meh, this manga's pretty dumb. It takes place in a world where the Japanese criminal justice system is somehow more incompetent than in real life.

I know that the japanese criminal justice system is a joke, but in the U.S. it would probably be considered self defense.

The funny thing is, modern japanese people are certainly less hospitable than other cultures, especially when compared to the past. European and Middle-Eastern cultures were pretty big on hospitality, offering meals and shelter to both neighbors and travellers.

This is almost identical to Reincarnated as a Slime. MC is overworked, goes out with a kouhai and his kouhai's gf, gets hit by truck, becomes weak character but wins the lottery of having a god-like monster give him powers.
