i dont get why the church is always depicted as anti medicine/science. Up until the black plague, the Catholic church was a pretty big deal as far as scientific and medical research. By the time they got all crazy about heresy and witch burnings, it had already lost a lot of influence...

what's up with this depiction of the miners? Even up to Industrialization, miners would crawl through miles of tunnels to get to work, work all day, then crawl their way back home, 6-7 days a week. They'd love a 8AM to 5PM work schedule.
MC's parents have a lot of balls naming their child Kaiser. That sort of thing would have the parents summarily executed for treason in any realistic monarchy.
The funny thing is, modern japanese people are certainly less hospitable than other cultures, especially when compared to the past. European and Middle-Eastern cultures were pretty big on hospitality, offering meals and shelter to both neighbors and travellers.
This is almost identical to Reincarnated as a Slime. MC is overworked, goes out with a kouhai and his kouhai's gf, gets hit by truck, becomes weak character but wins the lottery of having a god-like monster give him powers.
