@Mynaux My guess is that everything the charmling devoured wasn't destroyed but rather displaced to a pocket dimension. It's not there, but it's still connected somehow. That's why defeating the charmling puts everything back where it was.
@Reversinator It's actually happened once before, and the answer is they don't ultimately treat mermaids and fish as the same species. Some characters do find it odd, but others don't really mind.
