    Joou-sama no Eshi

@trapsarebetter Huh. I actually got the idea that it was gemination from looking it up. I remember hearing it described as a glottal stop before, but that doesn't seem to fit either. Considering the vowels make up more than half of the sounds spoken in the language... I'm assuming that first...

@trapsarebetter As far as I know, kudzu wasn't called クヅ in the past. Not exactly the best results, but here's what I found on wiki: Some other names for kudzu: https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%82%AF%E3%82%BA#%E5%90%8D%E7%A7%B0 Old Hepburn romanization differences...

@trapsarebetter Thanks for the clarification on the speakers. I seem to remember that 'Ye Olde' Japanese (from around the introduction of katakana, and presumably before) is thought to not have those sounds, thus the orthography didn't reflect it. I'll leave that alone though, as I don't know...

@trapsarebetter If you would, specify your choices more, please. There are at least two male voices for all of those words on Forvo, and they all sound different to me. The female Japanese voices for 'shuu' support your argument better, btw. Two of them pronounce it with less of a fricative...

    Dad Is a Hero, Mom Is a Spirit, I'm a Reincarnator - Vol. 4 Ch. 21

@Svelandria Quartz is formed from SiO2 crystallizing out of silicon solutions (i.e. magma). Metallic silver deposits (as opposed to more common ores) are typically from ancient volcanic activity, thus finding silver in a large quartz deposit. Same idea follows for gold.

Kami Neko Mii-chan to Neko Youhin Shoukanshi no Isekai Funtouki - Vol. 2 Ch. 11 - Arrival at Quinto

@definitionofinsanity I'm perfectly aware of the draconian weapons laws in Japan. One of the many law related reasons that I have no interest in living there permanently, though I have several good friends and occasional work in Japan. But it's not just the Japanese; ask the average...

Manuke na FPS Player ga Isekai e Ochita Baai - Vol. 4 Ch. 21.4

On the one hand, YAY! the AP rounds didn't penetrate that massive chunk of armor! The author isn't as dumb as I thought! On the other hand, they killed it by attacking it where it had no armor to begin with... Oh well.

Manuke na FPS Player ga Isekai e Ochita Baai - Vol. 4 Ch. 21.3

Fighting a giant, armored, magical monster. Why is your first thought not "I need a shaped charge explosive"... Nah, gonna do regular pew-pew. Huh, didn't even scratch its armored head; must mean it's harder than copper... but by how much... and who knows what the internal structure is like...
